It’s been over a year since the Hannibal Board of Public Works started the 161kV Substation Project and we are proud to announce that our mission to improve public power reliability has been successfully accomplished! The 161kV Substation Project consisted of the replacement and relocation of the Finn to Oakwood line, presenting 3 opportunities for the HBPW to increase reliability and capacity for its customers including, replacing the line, which had been in service for approximately 45 years, relocating the line out of the floodplain, and increasing the connection voltage from 34.5kV to 161kV. Completion of this project will result in savings on operation and maintenance costs as well as a reduced risk of power outages due to severe weather and overgrown trees.
We have a lot of people to thank for making this project completion a reality! We would like to extend our thanks to the following individuals for their hard work and expertise in this initiative,
Mathew Munzlinger, P.E. – Director of Operations, Jared Stewart – Electric Line Superintendent, Paul Trenhaile – Finance Director, BHMG – Project Engineer, Capital Electric Line Builders, and Integrated Power Company.
